BOLOVEGAN

The European agri-food innovation project RIS Straight to Market (RIS S2M) aims to help local small and medium-sized enterprises, start-ups and expanding enterprises bring new or highly nutritionally or sustainably improved food products to the main markets. The project has a strong market-oriented objective combined with a commitment to consumers.
It is an initiative co-financed by EIT Food, with the support of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), a body of the European Union. EIT Food is Europe’s leading food innovation initiative, working to make the food system more sustainable, healthy and reliable.

The project, with a duration of 8 months consists of the development by the company Jakion a new tomato/bolognese sauce that will contribute to a benefit in the nutritional and health status of the consumer by not adding added sugars and the minimum salt content, and thus try to reduce the pressure in the Spanish health system. This sauce will have a healthy component and will follow the trend of plant-based foods and clean label (no additives, no preservatives, no colorants). The result will be a new tomato sauce much healthier for the consumer compared to those available on the market.
