Every decision counts
to the planet

We improve environmental sustainability

At EROSKI we believe that every decision counts. That’s why our commitment to sustainability starts with how we choose and who we collaborate with. We work together with responsible suppliers who share our values to strengthen the care of the environment in everything we offer. We want every stage, from the origin of raw materials to the processing, handling and management of waste, to reduce its environmental impact as much as possible.

100% Commitment to the environment

Two professionals talking and smiling.

“Because we care about the future of the planet, we work to improve the sustainability of the value chain.”

We promote sustainability through:

01

Ecodesign our containers to improve their circularity.

02

Reduce CO2 emissions and other greenhouse gases.

03

Reduce food waste by preventing, donating or transforming surpluses.

04

Advance in certifying animal welfare with a focus on our own brands.

Packaging and ecodesign: Designed to protect, designed to last.

At EROSKI we know that packaging not only protects what we buy, it also plays a key role in caring for the planet. Therefore, we work to make them increasingly circular, that is, they can have a new life at the end of their use, and at the same time reduce the plastic pollution that affects our environment so much.

To achieve this, we approach every step holistically: from box bags to in-store packaging and our own brand’s packaging. We are committed to preventing and reusing waste rather than generating waste, improving its design to facilitate recycling and promoting the use of recycled or renewable materials. This is how we take small big steps towards more responsible and sustainable consumption.

Checkout bags

We promote the reuse of cash bags among consumers. Thanks to this, we have managed to significantly reduce the use of conventional materials and plastics, avoiding a great environmental impact.

In-Store packaging

We make it easier for customers to use reusable packaging in our frescoes sections. Specifically, we allow the use of their own containers as lunch boxes in the butcher’s, delicatessen and fishmonger’s sections, or our reusable mesh bag for the purchase of fruit and vegetables in bulk.

Own-Brand packaging

Our first bet is always to remove the packaging, that’s why we encourage the sale of fresh products in bulk. In addition, we work on the ecodesign of our own brand containers and on the reduction of conventional plastic per unit.

Logistics packaging

In logistics, we reuse pallets and plastic boxes. In addition, we work with our entire value chain to continuously improve commercial and transport packaging, reducing its environmental impact and promoting a more responsible use of resources.

Innovation and efficiency in our stores

At EROSKI we work every day to make our stores innovative and efficient spaces. We seek to improve continuously, taking care of the environment and offering a more sustainable and pleasant shopping experience for all the people who visit us.

Towards a more sustainable logistics

At EROSKI we are electrifying and optimizing our logistics, especially on the last mile, with electric and low-consumption vehicles. We reorganize routes to reduce unnecessary kilometers and use technologies that speed up the preparation of orders, ensuring fresh and quality products. With more efficient trucks and duo-trailer, we reduce emissions and move towards more sustainable transport.
