EROSKI recognises ‘Profesionales de la Carne’ with the Aragon Local Producer Award
Support for local produce

EROSKI has awarded Profesionales de la Carne the Aragon Local Producer Award in recognition of its contribution to Aragon’s agri-food chain and its ability to connect the primary sector, the processing industry, local employment and value creation in the region.
The award ceremony took place at the local producers’ meeting organised by EROSKI to raise the profile of Aragonese produce and promote its consumption. Attending were Aránzazu Simón Pérez, Regional Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Food at the Gobierno de Aragón, the Aragon regional government, and Miguel Ángel García Muro, Councillor for Digital Transformation at the Ayuntamiento de Zaragoza, Zaragoza City Council.
Profesionales de la Carne was founded in Zaragoza in 2004 by a small group of meat industry professionals with more than twenty years’ experience. In 2009 it moved its operations to Villanueva de Gállego, where it opened facilities for the handling and processing of meat. Since then it has expanded its industrial capacity and diversified its range, and in 2021 it launched Horno Montañés, a factory for processed and pre-cooked products. It currently employs more than 230 people and also has branch offices in Tudela and Alcañiz.
Specialising in beef, pork, lamb, poultry, processed and pre-cooked products, the company works with brands linked to the region, such as Ternera Pirinera, which highlight mountain livestock farming and Aragonese origin. Its model is built on traceability, animal welfare and working with local farmers. Its logistics and processing capacity also allows it to supply both retailers and the professional channel.
Pilar Cristóbal, Regional Manager at EROSKI in Aragon, said: “With this award we recognise Profesionales de la Carne for bringing together local livestock farming, processing and innovation to generate value in Aragon. Our partnership allows us to bring consumers products from the Aragonese Pyrenees with guarantees of origin, quality and traceability, and to contribute to the development of rural areas.”
The award was collected by Javier Hernandez, CEO of Profesionales de la Carne. Also taking part in the ceremony were EROSKI’s Head of Institutional Relations, Eder Mena; Asier Guridi, Commercial Director of Local Products at EROSKI; and Pilar Cristóbal, Director of EROSKI in Aragon, along with prominent representatives of Aragonese agri-food companies.
A partnership that combines local origin and innovation
EROSKI and Profesionales de la Carne have worked together since 2021 to sell Pyrenean beef in Aragon, both at butchery counters and in packaged format. The beef is also sold under the NATUR brand, which identifies products with a guarantee of quality, origin and commitment to local producers. The range comprises around thirty product lines and helps to highlight livestock farming in the Aragonese Pyrenees, support rural development and bring traceable local products to consumers.
In 2025 the two companies strengthened their alliance, adding new lines of packaged processed meat products under the HORNO MONTAÑES brand, including fresh *longaniza* sausage, *cachopos*, *libritos*, croquettes and meatballs, among others. The products combine quality, convenience and local origin, and draw on Profesionales de la Carne’s industrial capacity and focus on innovation to meet new consumer needs.
The company has also diversified its range with a line of frozen products that includes croquettes and other prepared meat products, widening the choice available to customers and adding more value to the food chain. In butchery, its products reach eight autonomous communities and 326 stores, while the frozen range is available in 37 stores in Aragon.
The partnership is part of EROSKI’s commitment to local suppliers and strengthens the link between livestock production, the food industry and retail in Aragon.
