EROSKI channels more than 25 million euros for social purposes in 2025

The Solidarity Plan

  • More than 280,000 people have directly benefited from the EROSKI Group’s social initiatives.
  • The aid has been channelled through 332 social and public entities.

EROSKI has channeled in 2025 more than 25 million euros for social purposes, benefiting more than 280,000 people through collaboration with 332 social and public entities throughout the territory. These figures, which include the own contributions of the EROSKI Group, its customers and the entities, reflect the scope of the EROSKI Solidarity Plan, a consolidated initiative that channels the solidarity involvement of the cooperative and its customers throughout the year.

Social commitment is part of EROSKI’s identity since its origin as a consumer cooperative. This balance sheet once again shows that when companies and customers move forward together, the positive impact on society is real and tangible. For this reason, we want to thank in a special way the involvement of our clientele, whose solidarity response makes it possible for these initiatives to reach thousands of people every year. As well as the trust that the entities of the third sector and the public administration have in us to channel their assistance in an integrative way to people in vulnerable situationsAlejandro Martínez Berriochoa, director of Health and Sustainability at EROSKI and general director of Fundación EROSKI, said.

A permanent and diverse model

The EROSKI Solidarity Plan integrates different initiatives that allow us to respond continuously to the needs of the most vulnerable groups. Among them are the food collection campaigns, developed in collaboration with the Spanish Federation of Food Banks (FESBAL) and other social entities, an initiative that EROSKI has been promoting for more than 29 years and that constitutes one of the pillars of its social action. In 2025, these campaigns, which include in-store collections and other solidarity actions, have allowed more than 2,300 tons of food and hygiene products to be donated, equivalent to more than 9 million meals, aimed at supporting more than 2,500 families.

To these campaigns is added the Zero Waste program, through which EROSKI donates fresh products and food withdrawn from the sale due to freshness criteria or small deficiencies in the packaging, always within the expiration date or preferential consumption and in perfect condition for its consumption. In 2025 alone, this program has made it possible to avoid the waste of more than 65 million meals, channeled through more than a hundred social entities, while reinforcing the fight against food waste and a more responsible consumption model.

Likewise, the Solidarity Pennies program continues to be one of the main tools of direct participation of the clientele. Through small voluntary contributions at the time of purchase, in 2025 more than 1.3 million euros have been raised, thanks to more than 9 million donations, aimed at financing social projects linked to children, health, social inclusion, support for vulnerable groups and protection of the environment. These contributions have made it possible to support the work of 61 social entities and directly benefit around 9,000 people.

Causes of solidarity for 2026

Looking ahead to 2026, EROSKI has defined the social causes with which it will work next year after a participatory process involving more than 6,500 people, including clientele, working people and citizens in general.

The selected causes will allow to continue supporting projects focused on children, health and the fight against diseases, the accompaniment to elderly and vulnerable people, the attention to people with disabilities, the support to victims of violence and the protection of the environment, thus reinforcing a social action aligned with the real concerns of society.

This participatory process is key for us because it allows us to direct our solidarity action towards the causes that society considers priority, maintaining a constant dialogue with our interest groups,” added Martínez Berriochoa.

The EROSKI Solidarity Plan is part of its cooperative model and its commitment to the social development of the environment in which it operates. Through this program, the cooperative reinforces its role as an active agent in the construction of a more just, cohesive and supportive society, integrating social action as a structural axis of its activity.
