Currently, there are recyclable trays and films for packaging rabbit and ground beef.  However, in order for this packaging to be 100% recyclable, it is necessary to find a sealing material that not only maintains the current properties of plastic packaging, but also increases the preservation time and properties of the meat.  To that end, this project aims to obtain a more sustainable packaging system based on materials that are 100% recycled and recyclable and which allow for integral sealing between the tray and cover for rabbit and ground beef products.

The overall goal of the SECURE PACK project is to develop a more environmentally sustainable packaging system based on 100% recycled and recyclable packaging materials that allows for integral sealing between the tray and cover for meat products (rabbit and ground beef).

Three organizations are taking part in this project: EROSKI, the FUNDACIÓN GAIKER, and GESTIÓN CUNÍCOLA NORTE, S.A., which all belong to different links in the value chain (research, production, and distribution), and which seek to ensure an increase in the number of agri-food companies that carry out technological and non-technological research, and the project promotes collaboration between agents in the food value chain.
