JakiZU!: learning to buy sustainably, easily, … and by playing!

akiZU! is the new open innovation project that EROSKI is promoting alongside CodeSyntax and ACEDE – H-Enea Living Lab in order to bring food sustainability to within the reach of everyone. Financed by the Etorkizuna Eraikiz - Misioak 2024 program at the Gipuzkoa Chartered Government, JakiZU! arises with a clear goal: to help consumers make more responsible decisions by using a gamified digital platform.
What is it?
It’s an interactive platform that simulates the experience of filling up a shopping cart. Each time the user chooses a product, the tool immediately shows the environmental and social impact of that choice, and proposes alternatives to improve it. Challenges, badges, and rewards transform the learning into a game that motivates the user to continue on towards more sustainable habits. It’s been designed in collaboration with consumers, experts, and local agents to ensure that the solutions meet the real neads of Gipuzkoa, and that they can be duplicated in other areas.
At EROSKI, for years, we’ve been working with our 10 Commitments to Health and Sustainability, especially with the Commitment to “favor responsible consumption,” which drives us to reduce our environmental impact, support local production, and provide the customer with clear information for making conscious decisions. JakiZU! is yet another step along that path.
