The goal of the innovative RIS S2M RIS Straight to Market agri-food European project is to help local small and medium enterprises, new enterprises, and expanding enterprises to bring new or highly-improved, from a nutritional or sustainable point of view, food products to leading markets.  This project has a strong goal aimed at the market combined with commitment to consumers.

This initiative is co-financed by EIT Food, with the support of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology – EIT, a European Union body. EIT Food is the leading food innovation initiative in Europe, which is working to make the food system more sustainable, healthy, and trustworthy.

The project, which will last 8 months, consists of the development by the Jakion company of a new tomato/Bolognese sauce that will contribute to benefits in the nutritional status and health of the consumer via the non-addition of added sugars and the minimum content of salt, thereby trying to reduce the pressure on the Spanish health system.  This sauce will have a healthy component and will follow the trend of foods with vegetable origin and clean labeling (no additives, no conservatives, no coloring agents).  The result will be a new tomato sauce that is much healthier for the consumer when compared to those currently available on the market.
